Warrenton Horse Show Hunt Night

Welcome to the 2023 Warrenton Horse Show Hunt Night

Open to members of Recognized and/or Registered Hunts. Points will count the same as the USEF Championships, 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, 1/2. A rider/horse may ride for only one hunt. Each class will be credited to the hunt designated on each rider's entry form. These classes are open to horses and ponies and hunt club members who have been fairly hunted. A horse or pony may enter only one hack class and one fox hunter over fences age division.

The foxhunter classes are judged on performance, manners, suitability of horse and rider, soundness and uniformity of a team. Hack may include 2 jumps, hand gallop & halt. Emphasis on ability as a fox hunter.

Proper hunting attire is required for all classes. Management reserves the right to limit entries in the pairs and team classes.


Entry Fee: $35.00 per class; $60.00 per team, $50 per pair. – Use Foxhunter Entry Blank for entries.

82. Hunting Pairs
Consisting of horses and/or ponies. To be shown over a course of fences not to exceed 2’9” - 3’. Judged on performance, manners, soundness and uniformity as a pair.

83. Ladies Hunter Hack
Open to ladies no longer eligible to compete as juniors. To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring. No more than 12 may be asked to hand gallop and jump two fences at 2’6”.

84. Junior Hunter Hack
Open to junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday. To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring. No more than 12 may be asked to hand gallop and jump two fences. May be asked to jump 2 fences at 2’6”.

The Hughes Memorial Perpetual Trophy donated in memory of Puller and Virginia Hughes by their family.

85. Gentlemen’s Hunter Hack
Open to gentlemen no longer able to compete as junior exhibitors. To be shown at a walk, trot and canter both ways of the ring. No more than 12 may be asked to hand gallop and jump two fences.

The High Flight Memorial Trophy donated by Dr. and Mrs. Csaba L. Magassy

A trophy will be presented for the Best Turned Out in Memory of Roger “Junior” Dodson.

86. $1,000 Hunting Staff Class | Graciously sponsored by Karen & Michael Crane

Open to past and present staff members. May be asked to perform certain tasks associated with the hunting field such as trotting fences, dropping rails, opening gates, cracking whips, etc. To be shown over a modified handy hunter course. Fences at 3’.

A purse of $1,000 will be awarded to the winning professional staff member. If the winner is an amateur, the purse will be presented to the winning hunt.

87. Fox Hunter Corinthian Class

Riders to wear full hunting attire. Performance 50%, Conformation 25%, Appointments 25%, an even hunting pace, manners, jumping style together with faults and way of moving over the course as well as when being jogged for soundness. Manners to be emphasized. Jumps at 2’9” - 3’.

The John Barton Payne Memorial Perpetual Trophy donated to the Warrenton Horse Show in 1936 by his relatives, friends and admirers will be awarded to the winner


88. Hunt Teams

Teams will consist of three horses and/or ponies. Judged on a brilliant performance at a true hunting pace, soundness, suitability, manners and uniformity of a team. Jumps at 2’ 9” - 3’. “The Castalia Plate”, originally presented in 1932 to the winner of the hunt team class at The Keswick Hunt Club Horse Show, has been donated anonymously to the winning hunt team at Warrenton

Hunt Night Champion and Reserve Awarded to the two hunts accumulating the most points.

The Nancy Elizabeth Nesbit Trophy donated by Mr. Harrison Nesbit Bowes

The Championship graciously sponsored by Marion Maggiolo and Horse Country Saddlery


SPECIAL TROPHIES TO BE AWARDED ON HUNT NIGHT

The Eleanor Joan Bartenstein Memorial Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the person with the most points in the hunt night exhibition.

High Point Staff Member: $500 will be awarded to the staff member receiving the most points in memory of Eddie Coles.

The Betty C. Maloney Memorial Challenge Trophy donated by her family, to be awarded to the Warrenton Hunt high point rider.

The Cub Scout Memorial Perpetual Trophy donated by the Bopp family in loving memory of Cub Scout. To be presented to the horse that exemplifies the best all around ladies foxhunter.

Best All Around Junior Foxhunter. The C. W. Smith Memorial Plate is graciously presented by Miss Sophia Vella and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Vella in memory of Sophia’s beloved pony Georgia Brown. This trophy was originally presented to the winner of the Corinthian class at the 1909 Warrenton horse Show.

Sally G. Lamb Memorial Trophy to be awarded to the hunt with the most horses entered.
